FAQ

πŸ”₯ EuroFireGuard FAQ

1. Product Certification & Compliance

Are your smoke alarms compliant with European regulations?

Yes. All EuroFireGuard smoke alarms are fully tested and certified to meet EN 14604, the mandatory European standard for residential smoke alarms.

Our products are also CE certified, confirming compliance with EU health, safety, and environmental protection requirements. Each unit is independently tested by accredited laboratories to ensure reliable performance under real-life conditions.

Are your smoke alarms approved for use in the United Kingdom?

Yes. Our products are fully compliant for the UK market and carry the UKCA (UK Conformity Assessed) marking, ensuring they meet all post-Brexit UK safety regulations for fire detection devices.

2. Battery & Product Lifespan

How long does the battery last?

We offer two types of smoke alarm models:

  • 10-Year Sealed Battery Models
Equipped with a built-in lithium battery designed to last the full 10-year lifespan of the device. No battery replacement is required.
  • Replaceable Battery Models
Powered by standard AA or 9V alkaline batteries, which can be easily replaced when needed. A low-battery warning chirp will sound approximately every 30–40 seconds.

Why do smoke alarms need to be replaced after 10 years?

Smoke alarms have a limited service life due to natural sensor aging and environmental factors such as dust, humidity, and airborne particles.

Over time, the sensitivity of the optical sensor may decrease. For safety reasons, European fire safety recommendations require replacing the entire unit after 10 years from the manufacturing date.

3. Installation & Maintenance

Where should smoke alarms be installed?

For optimal protection, we recommend installing smoke alarms in the following areas:

  • Inside every bedroom or sleeping area
  • Hallways and escape routes on each floor
  • Living rooms and common areas

⚠️ Important: Do not install smoke alarms in kitchens or bathrooms, as steam and cooking fumes may trigger false alarms.

For kitchens, we recommend using a dedicated heat alarm instead of a smoke detector.

How often should I test my smoke alarm?

We recommend testing your smoke alarm once a month.

Simply press and hold the Test / Hush button until the alarm sounds. A loud warning signal confirms the device is working correctly.

If no sound is produced, check the battery or contact support.

4. Troubleshooting & False Alarms

Why is my smoke alarm chirping intermittently?

Different beep patterns indicate different conditions:

  • One chirp every 30–40 seconds
β†’ Low battery warning (replace battery or device depending on model)
  • Random or false alarms
β†’ Often caused by dust buildup or small insects inside the sensing chamber

To fix this, gently clean the alarm using a vacuum cleaner with a soft brush attachment around the ventilation slots.

5. Shipping & Returns (Europe)

Where are orders shipped from?

To ensure fast delivery and avoid unexpected customs charges, all EuroFireGuard orders are shipped from our European fulfillment warehouse.

All applicable VAT is prepaid, so customers within the EU will not face additional import fees or customs delays upon delivery.

Can I return my smoke alarm?

Yes. We offer a 14-day return policy in line with EU consumer protection laws.

However, for safety reasons, returns are only accepted if:

  • The product is unused
  • The packaging remains fully sealed
  • The unit has not been installed or activated

Once a smoke alarm has been installed or powered on, it cannot be returned unless it is defective.

πŸ’‘ Conversion Optimization Note (for your site team)

For best conversion performance in the European market:

  • Place EN 14604 + CE compliance section at the top of product pages
  • Use accordion-style FAQ layout (very important for mobile EU traffic)
  • Highlight 10-year battery + no maintenance as a key selling point
  • Emphasize β€œno customs fees / EU warehouse shipping” above shipping section
